Many of you probably know that we had our second wedding anniversary yesterday. We had a nice relaxing night at home, complete with steak dinner, dancing and the bright tinkling of crystal glasses as we toasted our selves into another year of marriage. Unbeknownst to us an uninvited visitor was on their way to crash our party.
Some of you may have heard about our visitor in the middle of the night last night. You know how they say uninvited house guests are unwanted? Well maybe they don't say that but that's what I'm saying. Don't get me wrong, I love surprises! Especially when it's a friend dropping by in the afternoon. But I don't like this kind of surprise house guest. And while the
tornado was a riot...outside our bedroom window...in the middle of the night, it wasn't a bit fun. I woke up at one point and couldn't get back to sleep because the thunder was so loud and frequent, the humidity was so great, and then the lightning flashes were illuminating to say the least. Theo jumped out of bed a couple times to watch the lightning striking across the street (and I think to make sure we were safe sleeping in there), it was an unfortunate and anxious event. I even put in earplugs and a pillow over my head to try and dull all my senses in hope of getting some sleep but it all was to no avail. I tossed and turned for hours it seemed.
I must have dozed off at some point though because I did wake up at the appointed time this morning. Unfortunately I woke up too well. As I woke up I moved that pillow off my head to try and start regaining breath in my lungs and KABLAM! I broke the first one of our beautiful crystal glasses. Before we had gone to bed Theo lovingly placed one of the nice crystal glasses by each of our besides full of water to ward of a night time of dry mouth. As the splashing of water and crunching of crystal stopped I tried to gain my bearings on the day, but I couldn't find my glasses. All I have to say is, "Thank God for Theo!" He located my glasses and then cleaned up the mess (isn't he great!). I knew a day would come when the first of our crystal was broken, but who knew the day would be signified by a storm. I guess that's a new way to start a year of marriage.

Maybe we'll make it a tradition...like the dropping of the crystal ball in Times Square on New Years eve. But there is a limited amount of the glasses. If we started that tradition we would only be able to celebrate for 23 more years, definitely not enough celebrating of our love and life together. So then the question is to replace or not to replace. We have a three piece set of 8... or had in any case. Any suggestions?
