Two weeks pass in NY
These weeks starts on Saturday since today is Friday...
I have included lots of belly pictures because I have received lots of requests for them. This first picture will probably cure you all of this desire. Beware not for the faint of heart - bare belly ahead. I also have to brag a bit. Notice my awesome pants in the first picture, my shorts in the park pic and my skirt in the last picture. These are just a few of the many items I have made for myself for maternity use. Go me.
Saturday 7/17 we made tomato curry for our friends James and Shannon who had baby Elizabeth on 7/12 and shared Theo's birthday! Here I am finishing it up in our hot hot kitchen.
On Monday Theo noticed that the side walk on our street was getting repaired. This was an infamous stretch that I super-manned on in the winter. The experience was so traumatic that I gave away the shoes I was wearing (they were a little too big). Now this is one of the most level sidewalks in our hood! Amazing.
Tuesday 7/26 we made Peach Dumplings. These are a family favorite on the Janecke side. This recipe was passed down from my dad's mom. They are delicious when peaches are in season paired with fresh corn on the cob. UMMMMMM!!!! We ate them for dinner once and then had them for breakfast for three days. I haven't made them in ages because I always want to have them for dinner and Theo thinks they are more for breakfast. I put my foot down and made him let me make them since I am pregnant. Sweet Victory at last.
One of our favorite things about NY is all the free stuff in the summer if we can brave the heat and humidity. In particular the Bryant Park Film Series which happens every Monday night without fail. They play classics. This time it was Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail. Needless to say I have NEVER seen the park so packed. It was actually so packed it was uncomfortable. But we have these great chairs that make these situations so much easier.
Tuesday 7/27 Theo helped me uninstall my installation that has been up for the past two + months. It was a great piece and a great show. If you missed it for some reason visit my website here. Before we took it down we climbed inside and Theo actually climbed up it! I wish I could have but I'm not chancing it in the ninth month. It was fun to see how strong thread can be. The entire piece is just thread and tension.
Tonight, Friday 7/30, we went to South Street Seaport for the free concert series. We saw Chad VanGaalen and he was great. If you don't know his music you should.
