Day trip to Lancaster, PA
NOTE: I don't know what is going on with the date on this post. This was September 2009.
Labor Day weekend, a week and a half ago now, Theo and I got up at 5:30 in the morning on Saturday to catch the 7am Amtrak train to Lancaster. Here's our train ride:
What you don't see is all the sleeping we both did on the train and the amounts of coffee we consumed so that we would look normal when we met up with our friend Elllie once we got there.
Amazingly we were completely refreshed after the trip.We arrived around 9:30am and woke Ellie up with a phone call to see if she wanted to get breakfast with us. She obliged and we met up with her and her friends Andy and Laura at the first Famer's Market in the nation. There was all sorts of wonderful things there like Apple butter, fresh cheese and meats and this beautiful bouquet of flowers for $4.50!
Besides the new experience and the joy of waking up early on a holiday weekend the reason we went out was to see Ellie's show! She was in Hello Dolly! and it was wonderful and the theater was gorgeous! Here are Theo and I waiting for the show to start:
